All the little things...
...of deconstructing your life for long travel. Consulate appointment: done, for now at least. We already have a list of tens of things to do before we would want to leave.
One is shredding papers, luckily the shredder has recovered from its demise
We had our first garage sale today, it will be the first of a few. We also have started putting things aside to put on Craigslist and eBay such as my Global knives, bike, furniture, etc. We even have two quotes for Nemo (my Mini convertible).
Other random things
Mail service for expats. They will receive your mail, scan it, and either forward it or shred it. They can also handle a small amount of legal processes if you sign a power of attorney, which we will need get done before we leave. As well as changing our addresses at all the banks, investment firms, and any online services we will keep.
Getting together medical records, at least digital versions, to have those readily available.
Getting credit cards without transaction fees to hold us over until we have Spanish bank accounts. You need an NIE to do such things such as bank accounts utilities and that might take some weeks after landing.
Giving a thirty day notice for the apartment we got in order to make this project easier after we decided to do this and sold our house.
Plan a party. For some it will be a bon voyage party for some it will be a "hey, we're moving to Spain, wish us bon voyage" party.
Get Nick's schooling enrollment finalized.
Luckily this should keep us busy while we wait for the Consulate to get back on our visa.
