First Step Completed
Today we submitted our background check requests. We got up early and made it to the post office, just in time to get it on its way today. I was worried the paper work would get wet as dark clouds loomed about but it didn't start raining until we got home.
The line was short and our transaction was completed in no time. It happened so fast that I didn't remember how significant this milestone was to our project timeline. It wasn't until we walked out of the post office that I realized we had just started one of the biggest projects of our lives.
John knew, though. He turned to me and embraced me in a moment of acknowledgement. He was happy to celebrate the completion of our first step towards making our dream come true.
I went, "Huh?" I pondered what we had just done for a moment and smiled softly. He was right. After months of preparation, we completed the first scary step of the visa process.
I don't know how I feel exactly right now because I am both excited and nervous. Our 90 day window for submitting all our documentation to the consulate will start once we receive the results of the background check we requested today.
Gulp.
But on the up side, our dream has become a goal and it seems our actions are "grounding" the idea of moving to Spain more and more. As a coach, I know how important it can be to visualize an outcome and take action, even if, (and especially when), it seems scary.
And we know the more we act "as if" our move is already done will help us stay focused on each action we need to take.
This is evident as we just returned from a luncheon where we announced to a group of strangers that we have plans to live in Spain.
Yep, this idea IS alive and well this day.
