Oh, the Paperwork

Oh, the Paperwork

Our 90 day time window started on May 20th. We have been fortunate that most of the document items have been completed within short time frames.

We've been pleased to see that correspondence from government agencies we were cautioned would take many weeks have only taken a couple of weeks. Other items have had even shorter turn arounds then that, some took only hours or days.

It also helps that we live in the state capitol. My drive to the Secretary of State's office for the apostilles required for birth certificates and background checks has only been about 15 minutes from home.

I highly recommend living in your state's capitol if you can manage it prior to your big move. The ease of getting documents apostilled would be totally worth it.

Today I write this and celebrate the fact I finished getting the last of our "official documentation" like birth certificate and marriage license apostilled right before I left for my trip to El Paso. I believe the documentation was completed the week of June 12th.

I can't imagine how much more stress we would have had if we didn't live in the state capitol. This is one of those times I am very grateful to live in Austin. And the ease and flow of getting the documentation seems to confirm we are on the right track with this move. Most jobs and transitions that turned out to be good for me have had a similar feel so I will keep the optimism going as we move toward our August 1st deadline.

Next stop, application forms.
