Yes, we are.
Why, yes, we ARE moving to Spain.
This morning we had a short conversation with Alan of the Wagoners Abroad. He was very personable and knowledgeable. He helped us sort through the visa process in a way that left me feeling empowered. I needed that kind of boost because the past few weeks have been rough. Real rough. I’ve spent so much time learning about the visa process that it's made my head hurt. A lot. So many moving pieces to keep track of and my linear mind just couldn’t seem to make sense of the nonsensical time frames.
Mia kapo eksplodis.
I’ll be honest, I’ve been in overwhelm for a few weeks and at many times have written off moving to Spain. Too hard. But, somehow today the fog lifted from my mind and the “how” doesn’t seem as daunting. But there is still a lot to do.
What’s most noticeable to me this afternoon as I write this is that my body has settled. This is good news.
My body settling in is an important milestone in my project management process. I’ve learned over the years it is very important for ideas to settle in my body before I start working on them. Once an idea settles in my body, I seem to have a lot of energy available to stay consistent and make things happen efficiently.
The best way I can describe the feeling of "settled" is this: it is a sense of urgency that provides the fuel I need to stay motivated to keep moving forward, no matter how daunting a task seems.
I used this energy to drive the process of creating a family vision board. We spent about two hours creating it and I am very happy with the end product. It has the right amount of playfulness and seriousness we need to get the ball rolling.
The vision board will serve as both a motivation tool and a project timeline for us. I love what Nick did with it! He drew a Spanish flag, a unicorn (that is a fun story for another time), and the beach. He also drew the Real Madrid team’s emblem. I added some of my favorite photos from our trip in March, lots of good memories.
Nick came up with a nifty color code system to track each task as they relate to each person. Nick is blue, John is green and I am yellow. Anything the family needs to do together, such as appear before the consulate, is a pink item.
It is simple and clear. I like that we have some white area on the board, too, in case we need to add dates or notes.
So today I feel super accomplished. We are armed with a cool vision board and a whole lot of courage, (or insanity), and are ready to jump in and move to Spain!
